The prairies of the Great Plains (Midwest North America) have more trees now than they ever did. Strange how there is also a nearly complete lack of true prairies in this area.

i’m NOT a randomer you might all be pleased to know, but i still found this through the xkcd website. guess some of us don’t just use Randalls gift for one minute at a time. heh..

The random button strikes again!

Nothing is truly random. Not in the multiverse, especially not on a computer. Just so happens that’s how I got here though. Wierd.

I’ve now been sent here twice by the random button. Yay xkcd! I too find the lack of alt-text quite disturbing, because I can think of a few humorous things I imagine being put in place of the basic xkcd.

I was not entirely conscious when i arrived, so spent several minutes searching the previous page to discover how i got here…

Thanks to my reading, I now know the answer! The awesomeness of the random button.

As this is a genuine xkcd comic, I do not find it unusual that one would come across it by clicking the “Random” button.

It would seem to me that the random button is not quite random, at least on first click… I now have a cookie with the domain of this website.

I too got here via the random button. And I almost went back to hit it again, but was afraid I would never find this page again. Glad I stuck around. Though it’s just not the same with no alt-text – it’s a bit unnerving. Nice to feel so unified with other random clickers, though. Like we’re all one big xkcd family.

I pressed random and wasn’t looking at the screen. Then I looked back and was like “Where did xkcd go?”

yup, random. And it is. Random, I mean. Makes me wonder if the blog actually exists or not. Like, am I an idiot for posting to a blog that doesn’t exist, or am I just reading FAR too much into it in thinking that it doesn’t exist? Nevermind. I think we can all agree that I’m an idiot after all that.

No Aaron, it is alt text wheter you like it or not. nothing you can do or say will change that.

I find the lack of distinction between alt-text and title attribute disturbing.

Alt text is what is shown when the image is not available. An ALTERNATIVE to the image if you will.

The title attribute is what is shown when you hover over something.

But yeah, we’re all now jerks. Taking focus away from a good cause with your complaining (and my pedantry).

I too find it difficult to handle xkcd with no alt-text.
