It is great to see some younger folks carry on the good fight. Unfortunately many decision makers are interested in data only when it supports a position they advocate. This holds true for government and private sector interests. Data sharing is a complex matter depending on where you sit. If you are a county, all units of local government should share data with you in your format. If you are CMAP, data from all agencies in the region should be shared in a regional format. So it goes for the State and the Federal government. Talk about unfunded mandates!
Alas, these are the problems. What we need are solutions. We need data bases that can relate to each other not only within agencies, but across agency boundries. The RTA has had some limited success in dealing with this issue, but it is expensive and not extremely popular. Perhaps the solution lies in technology that deals with this issue, rather than the continuing efforts which are aimed at "getting folks together." Good luck.

Very romantic and romance it is. However, the concept of city and landscape is faulted because in his "virtual world" there is no structure and every object is a black box that read or create content.
