Sam Palmisano at Chatham HouseAs you may have noticed from the last post, IBM’s Sam Palmisano visited the Chatham House stage in London today having delivered a speech titled ‘Welcome to the Decade of Smart.’ Throughout tonight (and over the coming days) we will be posting content and links to images and video from the event here, as they become available.

From the post-event materials being distributed:

On January 12, 2010, Samuel J. Palmisano, IBM Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officers, addressed business and civic leaders at Chatham House in London. In his remarks, he described how forward-thinking leaders in business, government and civil society around the world are capturing the potential of smarter systems to achieve economic growth, near-term efficiency, sustainable development and societal progress.

Today, Steve Lohr of the New York Times published a brief article about the speech that takes a look at the past year of Smarter Planet work from IBM.

Paul Glader of the Wall Street Journal published an article today as well that examines aspects of IBM’s Smarter Planet initiative.

What is IBM doing about 2012? Nostradamus: The Lost Book the answer is simple peace for all or death. I’m not commenting for my future buisness ehtics, or for my finacial future. I’m commenting about the future of mankind. Nostradamus: The Lost Book we have two choices, we need to look in the future for peace, not war. We need to look into taking care of the planet that gives us life, not by destroying it. Our ultimate mother mother earth if we keep tormenting her she will show us her mighty wrath of what she can really do. no war only peace will save us, I strongly believe that the templars held something from mankind that all of mankind should of known. GOD HELP US ALL

What a great event to spread the word about the Smarter Planet and taking action. IBM should be commended for their work in a smarter planet. We love companies who are forward thinkers. Our company is part of a very small corner of the world wide net, but hope to be a part of changing the world and thinking forward and sharing other sources of alternative energy flexible solar panels

I agree Silvia. Wish I could have been there, but reading the speech was a nice secondary option. Thought I’d publish a link to the blog you mentioned: http://www.bluesilviaemilia.blogspot.com/

I also received a note from Adam Gartenberg that he posted something on his blog as well: http://www.adamgartenberg.com/gartenberg/agartenberg.nsf

And Karl Roche has posted as well: http://ragtag.wordpress.com/2010/01/13/the-smarts-start-with-people-of-all-kinds/

Seems it was a great event and thanks to @ragtag for updating us via twitter ;-) Worth spreading the word on this and showing people that Smarter Planet involves real actions both from IBM and the world’s leaders. Posted it on my bluesilviaemilia blog ;-)
