Our Mongolia Project Team is planning an engineering trip to Mongolia during May and June of 2014. Our team is made up of six engineering students from the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology Engineers & Scientists Abroad (ESA) student chapter. This project scope is to repair a failing vehicle bridge in rural Mongolia, teach and proctor concrete-testing certification exams, present at a technical conference, and plunge into the culture of the nomadic country of Mongolia.

The student organization ESA seeks to use the skills of engineering and science students in the design, development, and construction of projects relevant to the advancement of underdeveloped, international communities. ESA was created in 2006 and has completed several successful projects in Suriname, Chile, Mongolia, Haiti, Guatemala, Tanzania, Colombia, and Egypt.
